The Clear Choice for Orthodontics: Straighten Teeth with Clear Braces and More
Many of our patients come to see our Waterford, MI dentists with crooked, crowded, gapped, or otherwise misaligned teeth. Some are tired of their overbites or underbites making their smile less attractive. They don't like to smile around people or for pictures, and some even don't realize how much this affects their confidence and how people perceive them until they talk about it to Dr. Heuerman or Dr. Ratz. Sound familiar?
By the time you're an adult, you might feel like it's too late for you to get braces. After all, everyone associates braces with teens, so you just decide to suffer through your sub-par smile in lieu of looking immature with metal braces for 2 or 3 years. Did you know that we have discreet ways to correct your smile, though?
Let's look at 3 ways that we can straighten your teeth with clear braces options here at The Waterford Dentist.
You have probably heard of Invisalign before. It's an effective, comfortable way to straighten your teeth without braces, using clear aligners instead that fit snugly over your teeth. We'll take an impression and digital images of your teeth and use those to have custom aligners created just for you. Each set of aligners is a little different to account for how the position of your teeth will change during treatment. You'll wear the aligners for two weeks and then switch them out for the next set.
To the untrained eye, the aligners are almost completely invisible, so no one will have to know you're wearing braces! Also, you can take them out when you eat or for a special occasion, so your life won't be disrupted or inconvenienced. Plus, many people don't even have to wear Invisalign for more than 12 months.
Dr. Heuerman is a certified Invisalign provider and has completed countless cases, so he has the professional training and expertise you need to get a straight smile.
ClearCorrect works much the same way as Invisalign. It's also an invisible alternative to braces that uses custom-fit aligners to gradually shift your teeth into position. Like Invisalign, you will switch out aligners according to your smile adjustments. Also, the ClearCorrect aligners are comfortable and removable like Invisalign's.
So what's the difference between Invisalign and ClearCorrect? Here are a few things we tell our patients about Invisalign vs. ClearCorrect:
Your entire series of Invisalign aligners are created at the outset of your treatment. For ClearCorrect, your aligners are made in phases, so they're created as you reach a different phase of treatment rather than all at the start. This means you can make changes during your treatment if you need to, depending on how difficult your case is and how you're responding to treatment.
ClearCorrect is often more affordable than Invisalign, depending on how many aligners are needed for your specific case.
ClearCorrect aligners are more stain-resistant and less likely to appear cloudy.
Invisalign has been around longer than ClearCorrect.
Both invisible braces can provide you with the same outcomes, especially if you have mild to moderate bite problems. Read more about these clear orthodontic options here, and ask Dr. Heuerman more about the differences to help make a decision that's good for you.
Not all traditional braces use noticeable metal brackets and wires. We use clear ceramic braces with clear or tooth-colored wires and brackets, so that your braces blend in with your smile. These are especially great for teens or adults who have moderate to severe alignment issues that Invisalign or ClearCorrect may not work for. If that sounds like your smile problem, ask us about our clear ceramic braces!
We hope the choice to straighten your smile is clear now! If you're interested in our orthodontic solutions, why not contact us today and set up a consultation? No matter your age, it's never too late to get a straight, beautiful smile! And because your braces won't distract from your appearance, all people will notice is the great smile they'll see after your treatment is over!
